Equipment Mechanic
Summary:
Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs the excavators and heavy equipment that power our dredging projects, both in the yard and at job sites across the field.
Responsibilities:
- Required: Travel
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on excavators and related heavy equipment
- Perform maintenance and repairs on Marsh excavator pontoons and undercarriage components
- Travel to work sites to perform maintenance and repairs on equipment in the field
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and servicing to keep equipment operating safely and reliably
- Complete major and minor repairs, including component replacement and system rebuilds
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and safety concerns and report findings to management
- Maintain accurate service records, parts usage, and repair documentation
- Work with operators and supervisors to minimize equipment downtime
- Work in adherence to safe practices, procedures, and work site rules
Qualifications:
- Required: Excavator experience with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues
- Preferred: Experience with Marsh excavator pontoons and undercarriage maintenance and repair
- Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems on heavy equipment
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools
- Ability to work in remote field conditions, including marsh and waterfront job sites
- Ability to communicate and interact both verbally and written
- A keen eye to details and good decision making skills
- Can work independently with minimum supervision
- Flexible to work during odd hours and travel as needed
