Equipment Mechanic

Summary:

Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs the excavators and heavy equipment that power our dredging projects, both in the yard and at job sites across the field.

Responsibilities:
  • Required: Travel
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on excavators and related heavy equipment
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on Marsh excavator pontoons and undercarriage components
  • Travel to work sites to perform maintenance and repairs on equipment in the field
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and servicing to keep equipment operating safely and reliably
  • Complete major and minor repairs, including component replacement and system rebuilds
  • Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and safety concerns and report findings to management
  • Maintain accurate service records, parts usage, and repair documentation
  • Work with operators and supervisors to minimize equipment downtime
  • Work in adherence to safe practices, procedures, and work site rules
Qualifications:
  • Required: Excavator experience with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues
  • Preferred: Experience with Marsh excavator pontoons and undercarriage maintenance and repair
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems on heavy equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools
  • Ability to work in remote field conditions, including marsh and waterfront job sites
  • Ability to communicate and interact both verbally and written
  • A keen eye to details and good decision making skills
  • Can work independently with minimum supervision
  • Flexible to work during odd hours and travel as needed
