Service Overview
Built for Where Others Can't Operate
Amphibious excavation is the backbone of U.S. Aqua's service capabilities. Our fleet of marsh excavators is purpose-built for the soft soils, saturated marshes, and shallow water environments that define Gulf Coast construction. Where conventional heavy equipment would sink, our low-ground-pressure machines operate with precision.
We own, service, and maintain every machine in our fleet - from wide-track marsh excavators with pontoon undercarriages to extended-boom units with spud anchor systems. This means faster mobilization, guaranteed equipment availability, and crews who know the machines inside and out.
Whether the scope is pipeline construction through a swamp, levee building in soft soils, marsh restoration for CPRA, or oil spill response in a coastal environment, our marsh excavator fleet and experienced operators deliver. We offer both full-service contracting and equipment rental, supported by a service department that responds quickly to keep your project running.
Our Fleet
Owned Amphibious Equipment
Every machine owned and maintained in-house. Available for contracting services or rental.
U.S. Aqua owns, services, and maintains a fleet of marsh excavators in multiple size classes - from compact units for canal work to heavy-lift machines for levee construction and material placement. Every machine features low-ground-pressure undercarriages with wide tracks or pontoon systems that allow operation in soft soils, saturated marshes, and shallow water where conventional excavators would sink.
Select units are equipped with spud anchor systems for stability in tidal and current-affected environments, and all are compatible with excavator-mounted dredge pump attachments. The fleet is available for both full-service contracting and rental, backed by an in-house service department for rapid mobilization and field support
Applications
Where Amphibious Excavation Is Required
Pipeline Construction
Route clearing, trench excavation, pipe laying, and backfill through swamps and marshes where conventional equipment cannot access the right-of-way.
Marsh & Wetland Restoration
Sediment placement, ridge building, and habitat creation in coastal marshes for CPRA, USACE, Ducks Unlimited, and conservation agencies.
Levee & Dike Construction
Building flood protection levees and containment dikes in soft soils and saturated ground where standard earthmoving equipment would sink.
Right-of-Way & Land Clearing
Vegetation removal, grubbing, and access road construction through swamps and wetlands for utility, pipeline, and transmission line projects.
Oil Spill Response
Rapid deployment of amphibious equipment for containment, cleanup, and remediation in marsh environments following oil and hazardous material spills.
Shallow Water Dredging
Excavator-mounted dredge pump systems on amphibious platforms for canal clearing, channel maintenance, and sediment removal in shallow waterways.
Frequently Asked Questions
Amphibious Excavation FAQ
-
What is an amphibious excavator and how does it work?
A marsh excavator is a hydraulic excavator mounted on pontoon-style undercarriages with extra-wide tracks that distribute the machine's weight over a large surface area. This low-ground-pressure design allows the machine to operate on soft soils, marshes, shallow water, and saturated ground where conventional excavators would sink. Many are also equipped with spud systems for anchoring in position during operations. Read about the 9 different applications of marsh excavators
-
What types of projects require amphibious excavation?
Amphibious excavation is required for marsh and wetland restoration, pipeline construction through swamps, levee construction in soft soils, right-of-way clearing and maintenance, land and swamp clearing, dredging in shallow waterways, oil spill response in marsh environments, and disaster recovery operations in flooded areas.
-
Does U.S. Aqua own its amphibious equipment fleet?
Yes. U.S. Aqua owns, services, and maintains a ready fleet of marsh excavators in multiple size classes. All equipment is maintained in-house, allowing rapid mobilization and ensuring equipment reliability on every project. The fleet is available for both contracted services and rental.
-
Can U.S. Aqua provide amphibious equipment rental?
Yes. U.S. Aqua provides complete rental service for marsh excavators in multiple size classes. Equipment is available at all times and backed by an experienced service department capable of responding quickly to keep your job running.
-
What is the difference between amphibious excavation services and equipment rental?
With contracted services, U.S. Aqua provides the equipment, operators, supervisors, and project management to complete your project turnkey. With rental, you receive the machine and U.S. Aqua provides maintenance support. Our team also offers consultation during early project stages to improve constructability and reduce costs.
