Marsh Excavator Operator
Summary:
Operates Marsh excavators on dredging, levee, and pipeline projects, building levees, maintaining grade, and digging and backfilling pipeline ditch in wetland and marsh environments.
Responsibilities:
- Required: Travel
- Operate Marsh excavators safely and efficiently on dredging, levee, and pipeline projects
- Build and shape levees to project specifications
- Maintain grade and elevation according to plans and survey stakes
- Dig and backfill pipeline ditch to required depth, width, and alignment
- Perform daily pre-operation inspections and periodic safety, maintenance, and servicing checks
- Perform minor repair works during functioning problems
- Inform and advise management or mechanics for major repairs or maintenance
- Respond to signals and directions from the crew and work in coordination with them
- Work in adherence to safe practices, procedures, and work site rules
Qualifications:
- Required: Marsh excavator experience
- Proven ability to build levees, maintain grade, and dig and backfill pipeline ditch
- Ability to read grade stakes, plans, and work from survey references
- Possess skills to operate heavy and power-driven equipment
- Ability to work in teams
- Ability to communicate and interact both verbally and written
- A keen eye to details and good decision making skills
- Manage to handle emergency situations and work pressure
- Can work independently with minimum supervision
- Flexible to work during odd hours
